|Canon PhotoYou Autumn 2011|
First up, I contributed "How to Create a Black Background when Shooting Outdoors". The title pretty much sums up the article and it's a cool technique for making colourful plants and flowers really pop! You can click the link above for a scan of the full article, but I'll tell you now that the secret is black velvet.
I also wrote "How to Build a Home Macro Studio" using low-cost items found around the house. This was a perfect topic for me as my most beloved lens is my 100mm macro. That said, I usually photograph the crazy bugs that find their way into my apartment rather than the cute toys used in the photos accompanying the story! I also tagged along on the photo shoot for this article since I was the "pro" at cutting up the cardboard box to make the mini macro studio.
I've actually waited so friggin long to mention this that the next issue of Canon PhotoYou, a quarterly magazine, just hit the shelves. The Winter 2011 issue has 2 more articles by me (Tanya Procyshyn) and I'll definitely be more timely about scanning and sharing them!
